  1. Entries must be original works of the participants.

  2. Matches the storytelling form of short films and short videos as well as the artistic means. 

  3. The entries must be completed and in smooth playable condition and technically correct; Promoting truth, goodness, beauty, and positive energy; Healthy ideology; Up to date; Creative and novel; Strong storytelling skill; Infectious and rich in content.

FOCUS OF TOPIC

  1. Topic Option 1 : While all of us are facing challenges and difficulties at the time of pandemic, there are still many uplifting and inspiring stories of strong Malaysians who never stop fighting for the bright future of our society, regardless of race or religion, they spread kindness, compassion and positivity.

  2. Topic Option 2: When we observe our society more attentively, there is always LOVE and HOPE happen around us. 

  3. For examples: When the pandemic happened, the good deeds and heartwarming actions shown by Malaysian; their feelings in fighting against the pandemic situation in their surroundings; people’s affection and kindness aroused by the pandemic; the mutual assistance and support between the governments and people of China and Malaysia to fight against this pandemic together.

Eligibilitiy

  1. The competition is open to all Malaysian or Chinese (China) who reside abroad in Malaysia, including students and independent film-makers.

  2. No registration fee is required.

  3. Participants are required to fill in Google Forms for registration and submission. Participants personal information submitted must all be valid.

  4. Submission deadline:31st October 2020, 11:59 pm

  5. All works submitted after the submission deadline will not be accepted.

  6. All submissions must be the creation of participants.

  7. All works produced after 1st January 2019 and matched the competition theme is accepted.

Submission Specification

Film Duration

Completed works (excluding end credit) must not exceed 15 minutes.

Language

Presented in a language or dialect commonly used in Malaysia and China.

English subtitles are required regardless of the main language used in each film.

 

Format

Format for the submission should be in MP4, AVI, H264, MOV. Cameras can range from smartphones(1080p@30fps) to handycams to Digital SLR to mini-DV formats.

Genre

All genres are accepted.

​

Participants are required to submit a poster alongside with their Short Film.

Copyright

  1. Submissions must be original works.

  2. All content and music used in short films shall not infringe on any copyright.

  3. If the submissions shall involve copyright issues, the organizer reserves the right to claim compensation.

  4. The organizer reserve the right to broadcast the short films on any platform.

  5. The copyright of the short films submitted will belong to the filmmakers.

  6. Filmmakers who submitted films grant organizers the right to use up to 30 seconds of the film for media promotion purposes.

judging parameters

  1. The submissions are judged based on creativity, story, originality, theme, and context.

  2. Storytelling: Your short film should tell us a story. The entries will be judged on their ability to get a message across, either explicit or discreet.

  3. Production: While the proper use of lighting, sound, music, visual and sound effects can always enhance an audience's viewing experience, greater weight will be given to creativity, originality, and storytelling.

  4. The judges will then evaluate all the submissions.

  5. Winners for Public Category will be awarded First, Second and Third Prize.

  6. The winner of Student Category will be awarded 'The Best Short Film'.

Music Video cATEGORY

Content

  1. Entries must be original works of the participants.

  2. Matches the visual and story-telling form of music videos as well as the artistic means, presenting 

  3. The entries must be completed and in smooth playable condition and technically correct; Promoting truth, goodness, beauty, and positive energy; Healthy ideology; Up to date; Creative and novel; Strong storytelling skill; Infectious and rich in content.

FOCUS OF TOPIC

  1. Topic Option 1: During the coronavirus outbreak, we have to distant ourselves physically, but not emotionally .Through music and footages, share your unique perspective during this difficult time.

  2. Topic Option2:  Use music and footages to share the LOVE and HOPE about the beautiful things around the society.

  3. Any songs can be used for the music video. Participants do not need to worry about the copyright of the songs. If required sharing on any media platform, the organizers will proceed to manage the copyright purchase.

  4. Original songs are welcomed to apply too!

  5. Filmmakers who submitted music videos grant organizers the right to use the music video for media promotion purposes.

  5. The submissions with the highest final result will then be announced as the winner. The prize category will be under 'Best Music Video Award'.

  2. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant who fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions of the competition.

  3. The organiser reserves the right to change, postpone, reschedule and/or extend the competition period and/or cancel/terminate the competition at any time without prior notice.
